Draftkings Satellites & Qualifiers – Review

This another game mode on Draftkings. But it is not as simple as the others. It’s quite confusing. But in this post, I will break Satellites & Qualifiers down to you. Let’s get to it.

Satellites & Qualifiers What Is It?

Satellites are where you join a contest and earn tickets. These tickets can be used to join contest instead of cash. Qualifiers are when you have to win a game or games to qualify for a big cash game. These games are usually on the costly side in order to enter.

You will need to have some serious cash saved up. The DFS Sharks will be there of course. But they can afford to lose a few hundred or thousands of dollars. I don’t think us regular people can afford to do it. So your fee will be paid off with your wins and you will be able to join and still win big.

In this image, you see where I have the content circled. Be sure to read that so you’ll see how the contest works and how the winner or winners will be rewarded. In this case, you will have to enter $300 dollars in order to win a $500K fantasy baseball challenge ticket. You must come in first out 30 people. The chances of winning in this contest are slim. But if you do consider yourself extremely lucky.

This is the format. It informs you on how you will play your opponents. It also lets you know how you will be eliminated. It states how many times you can qualify for that particular bracket. Finally,  the date when the final brackets will be announced.

It will also show you all of the people qualifying for that particular bracket. These are your opponents.

Do You Win Big In These Contest?

Yes, you win very big. It is almost like tournaments. But not as big and you are limited on your chances to win. In this case, you have head to head games.

As long as you’re winning you go on to the next round. But once you lose. It’s a wrap and you get eliminated. It is better to lose in the beginning. Then to get deep in the contest and lose. I almost have had a couple of heart attacks because of that.

If my walls could talk they would have some funny stories to tell about me and my fantasy sports experiences.

All You Win Is Tickets?

No, some contest pays out cash to the winners.

You can win cash also

You can win cash also

Like this one here. The top 3 get prizes. But the first two get $200 cash. Third get a step 4 ticket. Which they can use later on for a contest. It’s only 6 guys in this contest. In order to win something.

You must come in the top 3. These games are usually a lot easier to cash in. You see that one guy in this contest already. See that’s one guy who knows his stuff. He has an NFL line up 25 days before the season even starts.

Satellites are not the same as qualifiers. You will not win cash in a satellite game. You will only win tickets. That you can use to join games and win cash. They are usually tournament style games. They usually only reward a ticket to the 1st place winner.

In some cases, they slide a 2nd place winner in the contest. But there is a thing called super satellites. In this, the playing field is huge and rewards a lot of tickets. It usually has over 1K+ entries in the game and payouts tickets to the top 250.

Satellites also offer the little guys. A chance to swim with the big fish in those qualifier games. It makes it a lot of fun to be in there with those guys. Ten times out of ten you’ll lose. But you will learn tendencies and pick strategies from those guys. You will have your day.

In a nutshell, all this contest does is help you get into higher entry fee contest or any contest. Without breaking the bank. If you are still confused or have questions on something related to this post. Let me know. I would expect it.

This game mode can rack your brains. Especially if you don’t know what you are really doing in the first place. You can build your bankroll fairly quickly playing this game mode as well. At the same time work your way towards a shot a huge payout game. They offer these contest often and are always on the site.

Just set your tab to satellites and qualifiers. Then go explore the available games. I don’t play it much. But I do play during NFL. I seem to win a lot more during the NFL season in this game mode than I do in any other sport.

Now, all there is left to do is create your free Draftkings account. You can do so by clicking the linked image below. I know that I have shoved a lot of information down your throat on this post.

    Hi Ted,

That interestingly, draftings satellites & qualifiers, it’s like playing in a competition where you have to beat your rivals with the difference that you depend on other’s or some circumstances that are out of control and that’s when becomes a bet or lottery. I have played for about 3days now and I will say I am having a blast. I have came in first 2 times in a 6 man contest

Great information on daily fantasy leagues. I always just do the standard leagues so its good to know that there are other options available. How long have you been involved with daily fantasy? Do you have any tips for someone trying to get started? Every time I play, I loose money!

Yes I have over a decade and some change in experience. This is how I make a living. So I know my stuff. But I would suggest. That you change up your strategy. Because whatever you are using currently isn’t working for you. Don’t give up and learn something from each loss.

Just when I thought I was beginning to understand fantasy football, you throw me this curve ball and now I’m more confused than ever. LOL

I have a cousin that introduced me to FanDuel. I have a Draft Kings account I created last year, but I never actually used it. It looks like it might be time to check it out again.

Based on your post, I would most likely give the qualifiers a chance versus the satellite where I don’t have any chances of winning.

Which do you prefer to play? Have you created your fantasy draft yet? I might start working on mine this weekend.

Thanks for sharing… those cash prizes sound real tempting.

I can’t say. I mean everyone has different luck in this. Yours may be better than mine. But I would do neither. I don’t play much of this contest. I tend to stick with 50/50s and Head To Head games.

    Hi Ted
I am way over my head with Draftkings Satellites & Qualifiers, to be truthful I never heard of it before. It took me a while to understand it. From what I have read there are prize payouts quite substantial I see but you have to invest in a certain amount of money. So is there a guarantee that you will big money. For now I will stick to horse racing or lotto playing

I have never tried Draft Kings. I see the commercials on TV but it looks to good to be true.
If you win a step 4 ticket can you use that to wager and earn cash?
Where would suggest a new guy to this start?
How much money do you have to put up to compete on Draft Kings?
    Thanks for your time,
