How Playing DFS Got Me Through Christmas And New Years

Hey there party people all over the world. It’s been a minute since I’ve posted. I’ve had so much on my plate I just couldn’t find time to get on here and post anything.

But that doesn’t mean money couldn’t or wasn’t being made during this stretch of my absence.

This post isn’t really going to be a step by step guide or how to like I normally would write.

This is going to be more towards showing that DFS can really change your life and make making money easier.

How Playing DFS Got Me Through Christmas And New Years

I remember it like it was yesterday. It was on either the 16th or 17th of the month in November of 2017. I decided to go a little heavier than usual because I didn’t plan on playing the following week.

I spent all day researching and putting things together to come up with the best line I could create. I only used one lineup and I entered it in 14 times for $120 in a $50K to first tournament.

If I can find the lineup I will screenshot it and post it on here as well. Dk is only letting me go back 30 days to my contest history. But for anyone who thinks I’m lying just match the dates up with what I’m saying. These screenshots are from my iPhone.

On this night a man who goes by the name of Greg Monroe won me over 5K. Off a $120 investment on Draftkings.

Now imagine this happening to you and it will. It happens to many people each and every day.

How My Night Went Playing DFS On Dk

Well, it was just like another day in the office for the most part. I picked my lineup and I was watching the games with my wife and a few friends. I wasn’t winning anything most of the night at first. I just feel asleep and hoped for the best because it wasn’t pretty at the moment. When I woke up everyone else had fallen asleep or left.

The Suns were playing the Bucks I think and you know that Greg’s former team (Bucks) and they don’t have a big man that I feel can hold him. Everyone was trying to decide rather to play Tyson Chandler or Alex Len. You never know with the big men in Phenoix. I did some rational thinking and went with my guy Greg (Gut Feeling). So I threw him in my lineup and I think I had him owned at like 4% or 14% on a two-game slate that is huge if that player produces as you can see. I don’t think Chandler played and Len got very little minutes. It was too easy for Greg and as long as he was on the floor my money was going up.

Long story short he went out and balled I know I was winning like $400+ dollars out of nowhere. That woke me up real quick let’s just say that much.

Ok so now I’m kind of amped because I see the owner percentage and I know that this can be big if he keeps on producing points and produce he did.

At this point, I’m standing up yelling at the TV cheering Greg on you know how it goes DFS players when your guy is on and you’re cashing you become apart of the game so to speak.

How I Missed 7K In An Instant Playing DFS – Josh Jackson

I’m currently winning a couple hundred more than I invested in my game that night and I feel good about cashing because no one around me has Greg Monroe in the standings. Anytime I come out with more than I went in with its counted as a successful night for me.

One of the teams had called a timeout and it went to commercial. This was the late game and the last game coming on for the night. During this commercial break, I decided to go fix me a bite to eat. I just woke up and I’ve used quite a bit of energy yelling and screaming at the TV.

Plus my wife wanted me to put the kids to bed and make sure the dog was alright. I did that and then went to the kitchen.

Oreos

Oreos

PB&J with a cup of Milk and some Oreos was my DFS snack that night.

Its been about 5 minutes or so since I’ve checked my phone. I can hear the game playing in the living room. As I make my way back to finish watching the game I decided to refresh my app and once I did oh my God.

I think I started running through the house I said to hell with the food I had although I did keep a handful of them Oreos.

I was just winning $400+ like a short time ago. But now it’s up to 7K that fast.

I was so lit at the moment. Until I looked at the clock and seen that they were giving garbage minutes to different players. But Greg was no longer on the floor since he got whats consider starter minutes. So the coach pulled him (Benced For The Remainder Of The Game).

I just wanted the game to be over as soon as possible because I knew as long as this game went on the most likely one of those DFS Sharks was going to track me down and possibly ruin my night.

It was like 35 seconds left and they were fouling and letting different guys shoot free throws.

It was ok I was almost out until the suns rookie Josh Jackson was sent to the free throw line once again and he hit both. With him doing that set me back to the 5K. Because the guy behind me had him and I was beating him by a 1/2 point.

I’m not complaining or upset but 7k is 7k. I’ll take the 5k and that I did.

What I Did With My Earnings From DFS

Well, I withdrew about 4k and left the rest in the with my current balance which was a little over 2k.

The money came fast and I could use it as soon as it hit my bank account. See my article on how to deposit and withdraw on Draftkings to see how I did this.

This money paid my bills, brought my children and wife’s Christmas, got me through the new years and I’m still playing with it on DK along with money I’ve won over time.

Conclusion

Some people may not see 5k as much. But it’s not about that it’s about what I did to get it. I basically moved my thumbs a bit took a nap and woke up to it. Can you do that at your current place of employment?

Like I said, in the beginning, this post wasn’t going to be the usual. I just felt like I had to let my readers know I’m still here and making money.

Both DK and FD have added quite a few new things and game modes to their sites all of which I’m going to cover in due time. I’m back and ready to get this show on the road.

Let’s get this money DFS fam.

Not gonna lie — this is not part of the world I live in (hey — I’m on the back of a mountain and I don’t even have cable). But you definitely seem to be rocking what you’re doing! Have fun!

All you need is access to the internet.

Wow! You had an awesome experience with betting on basketball and the player choices you made. You laid down $120 and made a whopping $7610.77 back. That’s about a 63% return on your investment in a short period of time. I don’t think the stock market can produce that kind rate of return that quickly.

Can you tell me as someone new to Draft Kings where I should start or where to look?

Thanks for sharing your thrilling moments!

I ending up winning 5k I would’ve won 7k if Josh Jackson wouldn’t have hit those free throws. But it’s still a good return on investment like you said.

I would suggest building a bankroll first. That amount depends on you and your financial situation. I built mine up to $200 before I even touched a tournament for big money starting out. Play double ups and head to heads. Until you get a comfortable amount of cash in your account.

Never play your entire balance and always play more double ups, head to heads or multipliers than you do in a tournament. This is smart and will help you in the long run manage your money better and mold you into an Expert DFS player.

Then start small and play tournaments. I would suggest doing single entry tournaments at first just until you get the hang of things and then you can amp it up a bit.

How ever you choose to do it is ultimately up to you.

This is how I did it starting out though.

This is something totally new to me. I have never come across anything like this. Seems interesting but I have to agree that money management is key. Do not go broke and only play with money that you can afford to lose if the shots don’t go in. But congrats Ted on your BIG winnings!

    Hi,
This sounds like exciting night. Congratulations on your win. As non US resident I am interested to know if draftkings accepts international singing ? Can people outside USA participate in this game ? Is that site accepting plays for just basketball or you can play with ice hockey, American football or soccer ?

      Thank you for your comment

Sorry they currently don’t offer Draftkings in other countries. If they have any openings or updates I’ll be sure to let you know and we can play all major sports including football and soccer.

Awesome to hear you’re having success betting on sports. I’ve used Draft Kings before without much success. Don’t think I ever won anything.

Do you have any tips for beginners?

Would love to hear your strategy.
